Good idea: Plastic-free whiskey bottle made entirely of paper
Hamburg, Germany - 26 July 2020 - Johnnie Walker from the paper bottle? Diageo wants to bring Scotch whiskey to the shelves and bars in plastic-free bottles from 2021. A right idea at the right time!
Pulpex Limited has developed the first scalable, paper-based beverage bottle that is 100 per cent free of plastic and fully recyclable. The bottle is made of cellulose to meet food grade standards. In addition, it will be fully recyclable through the normal recycling process.
Plastic-free has long been the measure of all things in gastronomy: Plastic straws are frowned upon (and replaced by pasta, paper or glass straws) and disposable plastic dishes are also dispensed with. At Coffee to go, refillable hot cups are sold. However, the sore point in the environmental protection management of the catering trade is still the plastic packaging, which occurs in great numbers, e.g. in large containers, and is difficult to dispose of. Here, manufacturers, wholesalers, cash & carry markets and professional hosts must pull together to significantly reduce this plastic waste.
