Holiday postings by a manager of all people - is that exemplary?
A commentary by Carsten Hennig, Editor-in-chief
A manager from the hotel industry - recently awarded a medal of merit - posts holiday photos from the ski slopes in the middle of a lockdown. Is that exemplary?
Holidays are allowed - in some places. And many ski slopes are still open, including in Switzerland. So why not relax for a few days in the sun and with a wonderful winter panorama? The question is not about well-deserved relaxation, because we all need that. The question is: What signals do holiday postings from a hôtelière send in the middle of a lockdown? Hey, I'm feeling really good right now?!
Careless - that would be the rash judgement. Unthoughtful - another admonition. But hand on heart: isn't that rather envy when we think like that? Wouldn't we like to be out in the snow right now?
After all, that's what we all long for!
What we definitely need is more serenity and spiritual rest in order to gather strength for confidence and rebuilding.
Therefore: Taking a holiday is allowed and encouraged - expressly in our industry.
