Mannequins and cardboard companions conquer hotels and restaurants: spacers and silent companions...
Hamburg, Germany - 25 May 2020 - Creative and a little weird: mannequins are supposed to make hotels, restaurants and cafés more homely - as chaperones or silent companions so that it doesn't look so empty. Here are some examples:
How crazy is that? The waiters are supposed to "talk" to the dolls and even pour them wine! This spectacle is supposed to make #SocialDistancing look more homey instead of having to sit at empty tables. Chef Patrick O'Conell from the three-star gourmet temple "The Inn at Little Washington" near the US capital came up with the idea. The chef is known for his quirky sense of humour, because anyone who has ever been a guest in a three-star restaurant will be familiar, for example, with the "No wet bikinis" dress code in the dining room or the cheese sommelier who comes with a mooing "cow wagon" and communicates with guests exclusively in word games.
Spacers without Plexiglas and flutter tape: The German café "Livres" in the city of Essen focuses on slim ladies - the mannequins were placed in such a way that the hygiene requirements are met. Perhaps the new "regular guests" will continue to stay in the house as silent companions...
Thematically appropriate: In the Lindner Hotel BayArena, players from soccer club Bayer Leverkusen use cardboard displays to indicate the necessary distance.
Together you are less alone: The cardboard comrades in the restaurant "Five Dock Dining" in Sydney, Australia like to let their seat neighbours "listen". Perhaps the encounters inspire new inspirations?
